Ulcers are most common on the skin of the lower extremities and
in the gastrointestinal tract. An ulcer that appears on the skin is often
visible as an inflamed tissue with an area of reddened skin.
Symptoms of an Ulcer:

* Belly pain that can last from a few minutes to a few hours and usually goes away for a while after taking an antacid or acid reducer.
* Weeks of pain that comes and goes and may alternate with pain free periods.
* Loss of appetite and weight loss.
* Bloating or nausea after eating.

Causes of Ulcers:
Peptic ulcers were formerly thought to be caused by stress, coffee consumption, or spicy foods. Now it is clear that about 60% of peptic ulcers are caused by a bacterial infection that can usually be cured. Another 20% are caused by nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAID) such as aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, etc.), and another 20% have miscellaneous causes such as cigarettes or no clear cause.

Ulcer Remedies:
1. Lime is valuable in peptic ulcers. The citric acid in this fruit, together with the mineral salts present in the juice, help in digestion.
2. Eating raw tomatoes helps rid mouth ulcers. Can also gargle with tomato juice 3-4 times a day.
3. Milk prepared from blanched almonds in a blender is very useful as a treatment for peptic ulcers. It binds the excess of acid in the stomach and supplies high quality protein.
4. Avoid coffee, alcohol, citrus juices, sugar, hot and spicy foods, these substances irritate the stomach and encourage the production of gastric acid.
5. Take 5000 IU of vitamin A four times a day, for six weeks, to heal the mucus membrane.
6. Drink freshly made cabbage juice daily.
7. Do not smoke. Smoking can delay or prevent healing.
8. Eat frequent small meals of foods that are easy to digest.
9. Gastro Health can be used to inhibiting the activity of Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
10. A tea made from fenugreek seeds is yet another useful remedy for peptic ulcers.
