Hair Replacement Options | Hair Replacement

Hair loss is primarily caused by a combination of aging, a change in hormones, and a family history of baldness. As a rule, the earlier hair loss begins, the more severe the baldness will become. Hair loss can also be caused by burns or trauma, in which case hair replacement surgery is considered a reconstructive treatment, and may be covered by health insurance.

If you and your doctor have determined that hair transplants are the best option for you, you can feel comfortable knowing that board certified plastic surgeons have been successfully performing this type of procedure for more than thirty years.
If you're considering hair replacement surgery, this brochure will give you a basic understanding of the variety of procedures involved. It can't answer all of your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Ask your surgeon if there is anything you don't understand about the procedure you plan to have.

The Truth About Hair Loss:

Baldness is often blamed on poor circulation to the scalp, vitamin deficiencies, dandruff, and even excessive hat wearing. All of these theories have been disproved. It's also untrue that hair loss can be determined by looking at your maternal grandfather, or that 40 year old men who haven't lost their hair will never lose it.

Men's Hair Replacement:

Finding the right solution can be one of the most important decisions of your life. Because it not only affects your appearance, but it also affects how you view yourself, how you look at life and how others view you.
Men's hair loss options and solutions have changed greatly over the past several years. Male pattern baldness can be corrected with appropriate replacement or restoration solutions; ranging from non-surgical hair replacement, laser hair therapy, certain topical hair loss products such as DHT Sensor, or hair transplants.

Hair Replacement Women:

Some doctors estimate that one in five women will experience some degree of hair loss usually caused by aging, illness, or hormonal changes after menopause. Women tend to experience a subtle thinning all over the scalp rather than losing hair in patches as is common in men. To correct the problem, some women choose to wear a wig or hair extensions. Others have had some success using a topical prescriptive drug. The effectiveness of such drugs varies in some patients and simply prevents further hair loss without stimulating any appreciable new growth. Hair replacement surgery may be the answer for those who feel uncomfortable with either of these options.

Because mini grafts are usually the surgical treatment of choice for filling in thinning areas, good candidates for this procedure should have dense hair growth at the back of the head. Mini grafts are harvested from this dense area and replanted in thinning areas to create a fuller look. Occasionally flap and tissue expansion procedures may be used if the individual is judged to
be a good candidate.

Hair Loss Prevention:

Hair loss is a circumstance that literally affects millions of men and women in the United States, as well as across the globe. While female hair loss may not be as apparent as male pattern baldness, there are a number of different hair loss causes and corresponding hair restoration remedies available to women. In some cases, the conditions that cause female hair loss can be
treated with a doctor prescribed medication, preventing further hair loss. For males, hair loss treatment options include hair restoration products and medical hair restoration.

Hair Loss Treatment Products:

While there are a multitude of products purporting to be the next "hair loss cure," there are only two FDA approved, non-surgical hair restoration treatments available. Rogaine® (minoxidil) and Propecia® (finasteride). These two products can be effective in hair loss prevention, and may even help to regrow hair for some men. However, once you start using Rogaine® or Propecia®, you must continue to use these products indefinitely, otherwise any new hair will fall out. Fortunately, there are other, more permanent treatments available to improve the appearance of thinning hair.

Home Remedies to Avoid Swine Flu | Swine flu Virus

Swine Flu:

Swine influenza is common in pigs in the midwestern United States (and occasionally in other states), Mexico, Canada, South America, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy), Kenya, Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and other parts of eastern Asia.

MEXICO CITY — The swine flu virus is not as lethal as authorities originally thought, Mexico's health secretary said, though the disease continued to spread quickly and kill on Friday.Tests had confirmed 397 cases of Influenza A H1N1, or swine flu, in Mexico as of Friday night, up from 312 on Thursday night, Health Secretary José Córdova said. The number of deaths rose from 12 to 16.In all, authorities had tested 908 people for the virus, he said.

"The attack rate is not as broad as was thought," Córdova told reporters, though he said it too early to say if Mexico was bringing the disease under control. He noted that China's 2002-2003 outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, lasted three months.

Symptoms of Swine Flu:

Just like the regular flu, the symptoms of swine flu are similar. Some of the common indications of swine flu are cough, sore throat, fever, chills, headache, body aches and tiredness. Some people affected with the disease also report vomiting and diarrhea. Lack of any unique symptom makes it very difficult to detect the presence of the virus in the body. Thus, it is always useful to
conduct proper testing if any of the said symptoms are occurring.

Home Remedies to Avoid Swine Flu:

* Always cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing; ideally use something disposable like a tissue. Avoid touching your face, nose or mouth too frequently with your hands since swine flu appears to be transmitted through respiratory droplets in the same fashion as the common cold.

* Wash your hands frequently with soap and water since swine flu like other viruses can be contracted by touching objects contaminated by the virus. It's unsure how long the swine flu virus can survive on surrounding surfaces.

* Though alcohol based hand sanitizers don't routinely kill viruses they probably do offer some limited protection in preventing swine flu infections.

* If swine flu infections have been medically confirmed in your area consider avoiding large public gatherings. Individuals can be contagious with the swine flu virus for several day before demonstrating any signs or symptoms of infection. Be particularly careful about indoor gatherings where air circulates poorly.

* If you're really paranoid and don't mind looking odd then consider wearing a respiratory mask. This barrier method does offer some basic protection against infection though not all masks are created equally. Higher quality masks capable of filtering out some respiratory infections are more expensive.

* If you start feeling ill with cold or flu-like symptoms do not go to work. Stay home and begin the usual home remedies for colds and flu. Contact your health care provider, local health department or hospital emergency room if your symptoms worsen or fail to improve for information about where to go to be screened for possible swine flu infection.
