What is Jaundice:

Jaundice is not a disease but rather a sign that can occur in many different diseases. Jaundice is the yellowish staining of the skin and sclerae (the whites of the eyes) that is caused by high levels in blood of the chemical bilirubin. When the bilirubin level is mildly elevated, they are yellowish. When the bilirubin level is high, they tend to be brown. Home Remedies for Jaundice:

1. 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder mixed in a glass of hot water taken 2-3 times a day.

2. It is advisable to drink 8 glasses of water daily.

3. Make a paste of tender papaya leaves. Take 1/2 tsp of this paste with 1 tsp honey.

4. Leafy green vegetables and fruits are also beneficial for patients of jaundice.

5. Boil 1 cup of water, when it boils add 8-10 lemon leaves. Cover and leave for 4-5 minutes. Drink the decoction for 4-5 days.

6. A diet including lots of orange juice, sugarcane juice and barley water is prescribed for jaundice patients.

7. 1/2 tsp ginger juice, 1 tsp mint juice and 1tsp lime juice to be taken as often as possible.

8. 1 cup of juice made with radish leaves taken 2 times a day.

9. First thing in the morning, drink 1 glass of fresh Tomato juice. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to this.

10. Foods like coffee, alcohol, red meat and white sugar should be totally avoided.

Preventions of Jaundice:

1. Intake of dairy products like cheese and milk should be cut down.

2. A jaundice afflicted person requires plenty of sleep and rest.

What is an Earache?

Earache is very common medical problem for both children and adults. An earache can be a sharp, dull, or burning pain in one or both ears. The pain may be temporary or constant. An earache can affect one or both ears and can vary from a mild, dull ache to a throbbing or stabbing pain that is nearly incapacitating.


A sense of fullness in the ear, as well as a burning sensation, may accompany an earache. An earache can occur suddenly or progress slowly.

Ear Aches Remedies:

1. Warm some licorice in ghee and prepare a paste out of it. Apply this mixture externally over the ear. This would help you relieve of the pain.

2. Apart from earaches olive oil can also cure buzzing in the ears. The olive oil should be only slightly warm before being put into the ear canal to relieve ear pain.

3. A whole onion should be cooked till it is soft and then it should be wrapped in a piece of cloth and applied over the ear to provide relief from earache and dizziness. Leave it on for a few minutes and then apply to the other ear as well.

4. Warm some sesame oil and immerse a few leaves of the castor plant. Dab this oil around the ear.

5. Extract some ginger juice and put a few drops of it in the ear. Warm this and put four drops of it. This would help treat earache.

6. Another good earache home treatment is juice freshly squeezed out from peppermint leaves. This juice can be inserted in the aching ear to provide pain relief.

7. Add fenugreek seed to mustard or linseed oil. Warm this oil and filter it. Once cooled, put it in each ear in four to five drops.

8. Another good earache home treatment can be prepared by warming tiny pieces of chopped radish in mustard oil and this oil can then be filtered into a glass bottle. In case of an earache, a few drops of this oil can be inserted into the affected ear to provide pain relief.

9. If the earache is due to flying, pop in some candy or chewing gum. Work the throat muscle as this would relieve from the earache.

10. Grind some basil leaves to form a paste. Warm this at room temperature. Once it becomes at a bearable temperature, put four to five drops of this oil in the ears.

What is a Dry Cough:

A dry cough refers to a cough that does not produce mucus (also known as phlegm or sputum). A cough is your body’s defensive reflex that functions to keep your airways clear of irritating or obstructing substances so you can breathe effectively.

3. Take a small piece of fresh ginger and peel it. Chew it slowly when you have the urge to cough. It’s quite fiery, so only have a small piece.

4. Add a humidifier to your bedroom to combat a dry cough that comes at night.

5. Keep a package of peppermint candies in your pocket and chew on one at the first sign of cough.

6. Take 3-4 balls of black pepper and with of caraway seeds with a hint of common salt. Suck on it for some time and you will notice instant relief.

7. Gain relief from a bothersome cough by adding cinnamon to a cup of tea.

8. Take some lukewarm water with a bit of salt and gargle. Alternatively, you can prepare a decoration of henna leaves for treating dry cough.

9. Boil oregano in a cup of water, filter, and drink to lessen the intensity of a dry cough.

10. Soothe not only your throat but also a dry cough when you add honey to a cup of green tea.

What is Obesity:
